My Favorite Natural Sweeteners to Satisfy Cravings
If anybody understands the sugar struggle it's me. I grew up my whole life only wanting candy ALL.THE.TIME. At some point in college I started understanding how food affects the body and what it does to us internally. I am no expert or scientist on the negative effects of sugar, but I think we can all agree that less is better. Go eat a whole bag of sour gummy worms and see how you feel after... not so great. Two years ago I started experimenting with natural sweeteners and I speak truthfully when I say that my sugar craving is completely satisfied when I use alternatives.
Here are my favorites::
DATES
BANANAS
CACAO POWDER + CACAO NIBS
DARK DARK CHOCOLATE
DARK GRADE B MAPLE SYRUP
COCONUT FLAKES
COCONUT MILK
RAW HONEY
RAW ALMOND BUTTER
LEMONS
MASHED BERRIES
Here's my favorite recipe to make when I am craving sugar but staying healthy:
1 banana
1 tablespoon raw almond butter
1/2 cup raw oats
1 tablespoon grade B maple syrup
1/4 cup chopped dark chocolate
coconut flakes
pinch of sea salt
Mash banana + almond butter together, add remaining ingredients. Make into cookie sizes + bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. YUM.
